• Spread (Blackjack)

  The practice of a card counter changing the size of their bet based on the player's advantage.

• Short Win

  Slots

  A big jackpot won after risking only a small amount of money.

• Signature Slots

  A casino's exclusive brand of slot machines.

• Side Count

  Casino

  In blackjack card counting, the counter mainly tracks the number of high vs low cards remaining in the deck. There can also be a separate side count, almost always of undealt aces.

• Split Bet

  Roulette

  A bet on two numbers adjacent vertically or horizontally. Pays 17 to 1.

  Casino

  A modification of a playing strategy when it is advantageous.

  Blackjack

  Code that indicates the dealer stands on all hands totaling 17. This includes soft 17, e.g. A6. This rule favors the player.

• Straight

  Poker

  Five cards which are in sequence by rank and not all of the same suit. E.g, 76543.

• Short/Partial Pay Tables

  Video Poker

  A payout schedule that is unfavorable to the player, i.e. pays less than full pay ones.

• Straight Draw

  The situation where a player tries to complete a straight, either with a gap between their cards (inside, e.g. 6532) or not (open-ended, e.g. KQJ10).
