Licensing is among questions that bother novice players the most. Technically, it is not licensing, because if you are just getting started, you are worried how to spot an online operator that’s safe. Well, here is where we say: your first concern then should be the licensing. Offshore regulators like Panama, Antigua and Barbuda and Costa Rica have ruined the game for other small regulators in a way, but AKGC is definitely a sign of quality and trust.

We explain in greater detail in the publication below why AKGC is considered a reputable liconsor, and we take you through the process of how this board certifies gaming lobbies. We also include links to some of the most popular AKGC-compliant websites, focus on accepted currencies, possible software and available bonuses.

In other words, don’t miss out on all the inside scoop!

All About the Alderney Gambling License

Alderney is considered one of the leading offshore financial centers in the world. It is an independent British Crown Protectorate located on a small island not far from the French coast. Online gambling laws in Alderney are managed by Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC), which issues licensing for online gambling operators based on the island.

It is a reputable and well-respected commission with strong liaisons to other regulators, including the United Kingdom Gambling Commission, the Nevada Gaming Control Board, and the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement.

The commission was established in the year 2000. In 2005, the AGCC voted to allow a "free market approach towards e-gambling", thus enabling the jurisdiction's licensees to accept bets from players in all other countries, including the United States.

In order to receive a license from the reviewed board, neither a company not its servers are required to be physically located within the jurisdiction, as it is for Malta-licensed gambling destinations. The regulator is also business-oriented when it comes to types of licenses, and it supports variations for practically all business operations, from B2B to B2C.

At the same time, this flexibility comes at a cost, and with a strict certification protocol. The application procedure includes such steps as submitting a signed statement of ownership, a document disclosing any litigations, both pending and closed, audit reports, list of major clients, certifications, descriptions of business processes, and an agreement to be inspected on the regular basis among other requirements.

Alderney Gambling Control Commission licensees will need to pay all the fees, including the initial cost of the permit, as well as yearly fees based on the overall yearly net yield. The procedure then moves into the personal inspection, with the AGCC official meeting and interviewing the company-applicant.

As soon as the permit is issued, AGCC starts monitoring the company’s financial conditions, as well as content that it caters to the players to make sure it stays RNG. The gambling site must always have a cash balance greater than the total balance of all players and the site's assets must always exceed liabilities by 25%. In 2011, AGCC also passed an amendment that requires companies to keep money of its customers separated from the cash required for website’s daily operations.

Alderney-Licensed Software and Games

Being in close contact with all the major regulators, Alderney became a name big enough for all major white-label suppliers to consider it as a reputable distributor. You won’t find Playtech or Net Entertainment in Panama-regulated lobbies.

AGCC-backed online operators, however, assemble all the certified content creators, including IGT, Bally Interactive, Barcrest, Red Tiger Gaming, Next Generation Gaming, Microgaming, Eyecon, and many others. As you can see, in a way AKGC is even more preferable than MGA because lobbies backed with only a Maltese permit will not be able to cater developers like Eyecon.

In terms of genres, players will be able to benefit from both table games and video poker, arcades and slot machines (including progressive ones), and as you will see from the list of brands below - multiple betting options are also supported. Live dealer fans, rest assured - your interests will be covered, too.

Best Casinos with the Alderney Gaming License

We rarely see websites licensed by the AGCC alone. Most frequently, this permit is added to other licenses, especially UKGC and MGA. Among such, there is the highly popular and experienced Paddy Power. Primarily a betting platform, it then also added many games to its selection of content. It is targeted at the UK and Ireland, and has all of its content available in English only. Deposits and withdrawals are possible in Euros and British pounds. In addition to games, it also supports poker rooms and instant lottery draws

Another reputable and well-established brand to head to is bgo. It has a multi-software library, hundreds of games to choose from, many currencies and banking methods and bingo software in addition to games.

Also, be sure to explore Pirate Spin, where there is a set of licenses and international targeting, as well as a NeoGames-powered lobby with several other popular content creators. Ratings for this website are high, and feedback from the registered players is positive.

Finally, we would also advise to pay visits to BoyleSports and Genting - two Playtech-powered lobbies with years of experience, several betting options to choose from, good selection of currencies and languages, high payout limits, and other quality services.

Best Bonuses in Alderney-Licensed Lobbies

AKGC allows for its websites to offer players bonuses. These come with meticulous lists of rules, however, and with a lot of restrictions, and not all accepted players will be able to claim promotions.

The most frequently listed deal is the welcome bonus, which is most frequently a cash match on one or more (but no more than five) initial deposits. In certain cases, it will also be backed with the bonus spins. The wagering requirements will apply, of course.

For instance, at Paddy Power sign-up deals are both for games and sportsbook. bgo also has a special welcome for the live lobby. BoyleSports may even propose a no-deposit deal from time to time. Another good aspect of bonuses in AGCC-compliant lobbies is manageable wagering requirements that, depending on a platform, may start at as low as 20xB.

Regulars will be exposed to many other propositions, including but not limited to ongoing and weekly bonuses and a series of loyalty programs.
